How it works

BIP39 encodes 128–256 bits of entropy plus a SHA-256 checksum as 12–24 English words. NFKD normalization and PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA512 (2048 iterations) produce the 64-byte seed. BIP32 derives keys at the selected path.

P2PKH legacy addresses only. Default BIP44 path selects the first receiving address. Custom paths do not change the address format.

Example

The public BIP39 test vector uses 128 zero bits, eleven occurrences of abandon followed by about, and the passphrase TREZOR. It is a test fixture, not a safe wallet.

Frequently asked questions

Can a seed be converted back to a recovery phrase?

No. Phrase and entropy conversion is reversible, but seed derivation is one-way. This tool does not recover missing words, detect the correct passphrase, query balances or support Electrum, SLIP39, SegWit or Taproot. A valid checksum does not prove a backup is correct.

Optional BIP39 passphrase

Every passphrase produces a different wallet. It is not checked against an existing wallet password.
